Take in-person card payments

Pair a SumUp Solo card reader with LemonBooking to take in-person card payments. Find the invoice, press “Take payment”, the reader activates and asks for the card. The result comes straight back: payment saved, receipt generated, invoice marked paid.

It works for invoices, memberships, tickets, classes and one-off payments — and refunds run back through the same reader too.

Save on energy bills

Connect one or more Google Nest thermostats to control them with your LemonBooking calendar data. The heating and cooling comes on before a renter arrives and drops back once they've gone, without anyone remembering to do it.

You create two targets per thermostat — say 64°F in use and 50°F idle — then set rules that decide when each applies. Rules can key off day of the week, time of day, time before or after a booking, booking category, facility, location, or even a particular customer.

Save time on key management

Key management eats volunteer time: meeting a renter to hand over a key, chasing it afterwards, cutting a replacement when it's lost. Fit a Nuki smart lock and LemonBooking issues a PIN instead — for a customer, or for one booking only.

Because the codes come from the calendar, they stop working when the booking ends. And because every entry is logged, you always know who was in the building and when.

Speed up event check-ins

Every ticket LemonBooking sells carries a QR code. Staff and volunteers can scan it with a phone, or with a handheld QR code reader plugged into a laptop on the door — which is faster once a queue builds up, and easier to hand to someone who has never used the system.

Any USB QR code reader that emulates a keyboard will work, but we recommend the Eyoyo Handheld USB 2D Barcode Scanner, about $40 on Amazon. Plug it in and you're ready to go. No software needed.

If your venue already runs a different heating and cooling or access system, you don't have to replace it. Sync your bookings to Google Calendar for software that reads calendars, or pull locations, facilities, opening hours, customers, bookings and time slots straight from the LemonBooking API.

Do we need an installer to fit any of this?

No. Every device here is off the shelf and fits in place of what is already there — a Nuki lock mounts over your existing cylinder, a Nest replaces the thermostat on the wall, and the card and QR readers plug in. There are no site visits and no wiring.

What happens if the internet goes down?

The lock and the thermostat keep their last instruction, so a PIN already issued still opens the door and a schedule already sent still runs. What stops is new instructions reaching them until the connection is back.

Does the thermostat handle cooling as well as heat?

Yes. You set a target for when a room is in use and one for when it is idle, and Nest drives whichever of heat or air conditioning gets there. A summer booking cools before the renter arrives on the same rule that warms it in February.

Can one code open the door for a whole season of bookings?

Yes. A code can belong to a customer and last as long as their run of bookings, or to a single booking and expire the moment it ends. Staff and custodians hold their own codes with 24/7 access, so nobody is locked out between rentals.

What if we already use a different lock or thermostat?

Keep it. Sync your bookings to Google Calendar for any system that reads calendars, or pull locations, facilities, opening hours, customers, bookings and time slots straight from the REST API and drive your own hardware from that.
