What's the best online booking system for charities?
The best one is the one your staff and volunteers will actually keep using. Look for online booking and payment straight into your own account, concession and member rates, invoices that chase themselves, a record of who approved and refunded what, and no commission on bookings. Try it with your real spaces and prices on a free trial before you commit. LemonBooking does all of that, with your website included.
How much does an online booking system for charities cost?
Plans start at $390 a year for Bronze, billed annually. Your website, hosting and SSL are included, as are email support and the online help centre, and there are no set-up fees. There is no commission on bookings, and charities letting several spaces or running ticketed events pay more; the pricing page sets out what each plan covers. Card fees, where you take card payments, go to the payment provider rather than to us.
Is LemonBooking suitable for a small, volunteer-run charity?
Yes. LemonBooking is built for small charities, trusts and CICs with no IT staff. We do the initial setup with you, multi-user roles let volunteers and committee members share the work safely, and every change is logged so there's a clear audit trail.
Can we send charity-friendly invoices if we're not GST-registered?
Yes. Invoices carry your charity's logo and your own sequential numbers, and you can show your ABN (NZBN) and charity registration. If you're not GST-registered, GST simply doesn't appear — nothing to switch off.
Can supporters and hirers pay us online?
Yes. Connect SumUp (in Australia), Stripe, GoCardless or PayPal and people pay from a link on their invoice or ticket — no LemonBooking account needed. Card fees go to the provider; we don't add anything on top.
Is this a good not for profit booking system?
It's designed for not-for-profits. You get venue hire, invoicing, event ticketing, memberships and a website editor in one place, with charity, resident and business booking groups so the right rate applies automatically — no per-feature add-ons to budget for.
